Noah Kahan Pulled a Hannah Montana at Olivia Rodrigo’s Concert

During Olivia Rodrigo’s sold-out show at Madison Square Garden on April 5th, she had a surprise in store for her fans. Noah Kahan joined her on stage for a heartfelt rendition of his hit “Stick Season.” But how did he manage to keep this under wraps? Sure, he could have stayed backstage, but that just didn’t seem like much fun. Rather than choose between watching the show and being in it, Kahan hatched a plan to get the best of both worlds.

Taking a lead from Hannah Montana, Kahan decided to get creative. He threw on a blonde wig and a mask, blending into the crowd incognito. This allowed him to soak up the energy of the concert without giving away the surprise. He chilled out, took it all in, and when the time was right, he rocked out on stage to the crowd’s delight.

Sharing his experience on Twitter, Kahan joked about needing a disguise to witness the magic of Rodrigo’s performance. “Sometimes you need a disguise to witness the greatest show on earth, and that’s just how it goes.” He even posted photos of himself with Rodrigo, showing off his clever disguise. In another tweet, he emphasized his determination not to miss the show, affirming, “I wasn’t about to let this opportunity pass me by,” in response to a photo of him sporting his clever disguise among the audience.

This certainly isn’t Olivia Rodrigo’s first rendition of Noah Kahan’s hit song. In a bit of a “Freaky Friday” twist, the duo swapped songs during their appearances on BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge last year. Rodrigo covered “Stick Season,” while Kahan tackled Rodrigo’s “lacy.” These memorable covers are now being commemorated with a special edition vinyl set to be released on April 20, in celebration of Record Store Day.1
